Armstrong County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2010 census, its population was 1,901. Its county seat is Claude. The county was formed in 1876 and later organized in 1890. It was named for one of the original empresarios, who contracted with the Mexican government to settle U.S. citizens in Texas.
Geography[edit | edit source]
Armstrong County covers a total area of 914 square miles, of which 910 square miles is land and 4.7 square miles (0.5%) is water. The county is located in the Texas Panhandle and is part of the Amarillo, TX Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Demographics[edit | edit source]
As of the 2010 United States Census, there were 1,901 people, 742 households, and 555 families residing in the county. The population density was 2.1 inhabitants per square mile.
