- Ascension Parish is a parish located in the U.S. state of Louisiana. As of the 2010 census, the population was 107,215. Its parish seat is Gonzales. The parish was created in 1807 and is named in honor of the Catholic Church's Ascension of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
