Ascension St. Mary's Hospital
Ascension St. Mary's Hospital (formerly St. Mary's of Michigan Medical Center) is a hospital located in Saginaw, Michigan, United States. It is certified as a Comprehensive Stroke Center by The Joint Commission and is a member of Ascension Michigan. The hospital is affiliated with the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and Central Michigan University. The emergency department is verified as a level II trauma center by the American College of Surgeons. The hospital has 268 beds and offers specialty services such as neurological surgery, oncology, and orthopedics.
Ascension St. Mary's is affiliated with the Field Neurosciences Institute, a neurological educational and research facility in Saginaw Township. It is also a teaching affiliate of Michigan State University's College of Human Medicine and Central Michigan University.
In addition to the hospital medical center, Ascension St. Mary's manages outpatient facilities in the area, including physician offices and services such as physical therapy, laboratory, and radiology. The Towne Centre, an ambulatory care center in Saginaw Township, provides outpatient treatment, surgeries, and a 24-hour urgent care emergency department.
The hospital has a rich history dating back to 1873 when the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul opened a hospital in Saginaw at the request of the pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church. The hospital has since grown and expanded, with a new building constructed in 1875.
