Ash Kalra is an American politician serving as the member of the California State Assembly for the 27th District. He is a member of the Democratic Party and has been in office since 2016. Kalra is known for his advocacy on various social and environmental issues.

Born in San Jose, California, Ash Kalra grew up in a diverse community that shaped his values and commitment to public service. He attended University of California, Santa Barbara for his undergraduate studies and later earned his law degree from University of California, Berkeley.

Kalra began his political career by serving on the San Jose Planning Commission. In 2008, he was elected to the San Jose City Council, where he focused on affordable housing, public safety, and economic development. In 2016, he was elected to the California State Assembly, representing the 27th District.
