The August Schell Brewing Company is a brewery located in New Ulm, Minnesota. It is the second-oldest family-owned brewery in the United States, having been founded in 1860 by August Schell, a German immigrant. The brewery is known for its traditional German-style beers and has played a significant role in the history of American brewing.

August Schell, born in Durbach, Germany, immigrated to the United States in 1848. After initially settling in Cincinnati, Ohio, he moved to New Ulm, Minnesota, in 1856. In 1860, Schell founded the August Schell Brewing Company with his business partner Jacob Bernhardt. The brewery survived numerous challenges, including the Dakota War of 1862, Prohibition, and the Great Depression.
