Austin Berry (born October 6, 1988) is a former American professional soccer player who played as a defender. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Berry attended the University of Louisville where he played college soccer for the Louisville Cardinals.

Early Career[edit | edit source]

Berry began his soccer career at the University of Louisville, where he significantly contributed to the team's defense over four years. His performance in college led to his selection in the professional ranks.

Professional Career[edit | edit source]

Berry was drafted in the first round of the 2012 MLS SuperDraft by Chicago Fire. He made an immediate impact in his rookie season, earning the MLS Rookie of the Year Award for his solid performances in defense. Berry's time at Chicago was marked by his strong defensive skills and leadership on the field.

In 2014, Berry was traded to Philadelphia Union. His tenure with the Union was hampered by injuries, which limited his playing time and impact.

In 2016, Berry returned to his hometown to play for FC Cincinnati, a then-newly formed club in the United Soccer League. He played a season with FC Cincinnati before retiring from professional soccer.

Following his retirement, Berry has been involved in various capacities within the soccer community, including coaching and youth development programs in Cincinnati.
