Baopuzi is a Chinese text written by Ge Hong during the Jin Dynasty. The title, which literally translates as "Master Who Embraces Simplicity", is commonly translated as "The Master Who Embraces Simplicity". The full title of the text is Baopuzi neipian (抱朴子內篇), which can be translated as "The Inner Chapters of the Master Who Embraces Simplicity". The text is divided into two parts: the "Inner Chapters" (neipian 內篇) and the "Outer Chapters" (waipian 外篇). The "Inner Chapters" consist of 20 chapters that deal with topics such as alchemy, immortality, and Daoism, while the "Outer Chapters" consist of 50 chapters that cover a wide range of topics, including history, philosophy, and natural science.

The Baopuzi is a comprehensive text that covers a wide range of topics. The "Inner Chapters" focus on Ge Hong's personal beliefs and practices, particularly his interest in alchemy and the pursuit of immortality. These chapters provide detailed instructions for various alchemical processes, as well as discussions on the nature of the Dao and the importance of moral cultivation in achieving immortality.

The "Outer Chapters", on the other hand, are more varied in their content. They include discussions on history, philosophy, and natural science, as well as advice on practical matters such as governance and military strategy. These chapters reflect Ge Hong's broad knowledge and interests, and provide valuable insights into the intellectual and cultural life of his time.
