History[edit | edit source]
The company was founded by Pietro Barilla in 1877 as a small pasta and bread shop in Parma. In 1952, the company launched a new type of pasta, made with a blend of selected wheats and a long kneading process. This innovation led to a significant increase in sales, and by the 1960s, Barilla had become a large, modern corporation.
Products[edit | edit source]
Barilla Group's product range includes pasta, sauces, bakery products, and crispbreads. The company's pasta is sold in numerous restaurants worldwide, and it is also a leader in the ready-to-use sauces market in continental Europe. Barilla Group's bakery products, sold under the brands Mulino Bianco, Pavesi, and Harry's, are among the most popular in Italy and France.
Sustainability[edit | edit source]
Barilla Group has made a commitment to reduce its environmental impact. The company has implemented a "Good for You, Good for the Planet" sustainability plan, which includes reducing CO2 emissions and water usage in its plants, and promoting sustainable farming practices for its wheat suppliers.
