- Beaver Dam was incorporated by the state legislature on February 7, 1868. The city got its name from the Beaver Dam Creek that flows through the city. The city has a rich history that dates back to the 19th century.

- Beaver Dam is located at 37°24′3″N 86°52′29″W. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 6.5 square miles, all land.
