From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia

Beneful is a brand of dog food products by Nestlé Purina PetCare, a subsidiary of Nestlé. Beneful is one of the most popular brands of dog food in the United States, and it is marketed and distributed worldwide.

History[edit | edit source]

Beneful was introduced to the market in 2001 by the Nestlé Purina PetCare company. The brand was developed as a premium food option for dogs, with an emphasis on nutrition and quality ingredients.

Products[edit | edit source]

Beneful offers a variety of dog food products, including dry food, wet food, and treats. The brand's product line is designed to meet the nutritional needs of dogs at every stage of life, from puppies to senior dogs. Beneful's dry dog food options include the Originals line, which features real beef, chicken, or salmon as the first ingredient, and the Grain Free line, which is made without corn, wheat, or gluten. The wet food options include the Medleys line, which features real meat and vegetables in a sauce, and the Chopped Blends line, which features finely chopped ingredients in a sauce. Beneful also offers a line of dog treats, including the Baked Delights and Healthy Smile lines.

Controversies[edit | edit source]

In 2015, Beneful was the subject of a class-action lawsuit alleging that the brand's food caused illness and death in thousands of dogs. The lawsuit was eventually dismissed, but the controversy led to changes in Beneful's recipes and a renewed emphasis on quality and safety.
