Benewah County, Idaho

Benewah County is a county located in the U.S. state of Idaho. As of the 2010 census, the population was 9,285. The county seat and largest city is St. Maries, which became the county seat after St. Maries River was declared navigable in 1918. Benewah County was established in 1915, partitioned from Kootenai County. The county is named after a chief of the Coeur d'Alene Tribe.

Benewah County is located in the northern part of Idaho, with Kootenai County to the north and Latah County to the south. The county has a total area of 784 square miles, of which 777 square miles is land and 7.1 square miles is water.
