Bermudas

The Bermudas is a British Overseas Territory located in the North Atlantic Ocean. It is known for its subtropical climate, pink sand beaches, and as a popular tourist destination. The capital city is Hamilton, and the largest city is St. George's.

The Bermudas were first discovered in 1503 by Spanish explorer Juan de Bermúdez, after whom the islands are named. The first settlement was established in 1609 by the Virginia Company after the ship Sea Venture was wrecked on the reefs surrounding the islands. The survivors established a new colony, which eventually became a strategic naval base for the British Empire.

The Bermudas consist of approximately 138 islands, with the seven largest islands connected by bridges. The total land area is about 54 square kilometers. The islands are located about 1,035 kilometers east-southeast of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, United States.

The Bermudas have a subtropical climate, moderated by the Gulf Stream. The islands experience mild winters and warm, humid summers. The hurricane season runs from June to November, with the highest risk in September and October.

The economy of the Bermudas is primarily based on offshore insurance and reinsurance, tourism, and international business. The territory is known for its favorable tax regime, which has attracted numerous financial institutions and corporations.
