Big Bird is a character on the long-running children's television show Sesame Street. Officially performed by Caroll Spinney from 1969 to 2018, he is a large, friendly, eight-foot-two-inch tall, bright yellow bird who lives on Sesame Street.

Big Bird has had a significant cultural impact since his creation. He has been involved in a variety of public events, including the 1995 Children's Television Workshop (now Sesame Workshop) initiative "Kids for Character". In 2000, Big Bird was named a Living Legend by the United States Library of Congress.
