Biodemography
Biodemography is an interdisciplinary science which integrates biological knowledge with demographic research on human longevity and lifespan. Biodemography is primarily concerned with understanding the factors that influence the health and longevity of human populations.
History[edit | edit source]
The term "biodemography" was first used in the late 20th century, but the concept has been around for much longer. Early biodemographers were interested in the biological and environmental factors that could affect the lifespan and health of populations.
Research Areas[edit | edit source]
Biodemography research areas include the analysis of the demographic processes in human populations, the understanding of the biological changes that accompany aging, and the analysis of the genetic and environmental factors that affect longevity and health.
Demographic Processes[edit | edit source]
Biodemographers study demographic processes in human populations, such as birth rates, death rates, and migration patterns. They use statistical methods to analyze these processes and to understand how they are influenced by biological factors.
Aging[edit | edit source]
Biodemographers also study the biological changes that accompany aging. They are interested in understanding how these changes affect health and longevity. This includes studying the genetic and environmental factors that influence aging.
Longevity and Health[edit | edit source]
Biodemographers study the factors that affect longevity and health. This includes studying the genetic and environmental factors that influence these outcomes. They also study the social and economic factors that can affect health and longevity.
