Boeing is an American multinational corporation that designs, manufactures, and sells airplanes, rotorcraft, rockets, satellites, and telecommunications equipment worldwide. It is one of the largest aerospace manufacturers and defense contractors in the world, based on revenue, orders, and deliveries. Boeing is divided into several business units, including Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA); Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS); and Boeing Global Services.

The company was founded by William Boeing on July 15, 1916, in Seattle, Washington. Initially, Boeing focused on the production of seaplanes made of wood.
