Booneville is a city located in the U.S. state of Mississippi. It is the county seat of Prentiss County, and is named after Daniel Boone, a pioneer and explorer in the late 18th century. Booneville is part of the Tupelo Micropolitan Statistical Area.

Booneville was incorporated in 1861 and named after Daniel Boone. During the American Civil War, the town was a site of significant activity due to its location at the intersection of key railroad lines and its proximity to the Tennessee River.

Booneville is located in the northeastern part of Mississippi, approximately 30 miles north of Tupelo. The city is situated in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and is known for its scenic beauty.
