Born-again virgin

From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia

Born-again virgin is a term that is used to describe a person who, after having engaged in sexual intercourse, makes some type of commitment not to be sexually active again until marriage (if at all). The term is most commonly used by Christian groups who advocate for sexual abstinence.

Definition[edit | edit source]

The concept of a "born-again virgin" is primarily a cultural, rather than a theological, concept. It is based on the idea that a person can restore their virginity through a process of repentance and committing to a life of sexual purity. This is often associated with the Christian concept of repentance and forgiveness.

Criticism[edit | edit source]

The concept of a "born-again virgin" has been criticized for a variety of reasons. Some critics argue that it promotes a harmful view of sexuality and can lead to feelings of guilt and shame. Others argue that it is a form of slut-shaming, as it implies that those who have had sex before marriage are somehow less pure or valuable.
