Bresler's 33 Flavors
Bresler's 33 Flavors was an American chain of ice cream shops. The company was founded in 1927 by William J. Bresler in Chicago, Illinois. Bresler's 33 Flavors was known for offering a wide variety of ice cream flavors, which was a novel concept at the time.
History[edit | edit source]
The first Bresler's ice cream shop opened in 1927. The company quickly gained popularity due to its high-quality ice cream and the wide range of flavors available. By the 1950s, Bresler's had expanded significantly, with numerous locations throughout the Midwestern United States.
In the 1960s, the company rebranded itself as Bresler's 33 Flavors, emphasizing the variety of flavors it offered. This was a strategic move to compete with other ice cream chains like Baskin-Robbins, which was known for its "31 flavors."
Products[edit | edit source]
Bresler's 33 Flavors offered a wide range of ice cream flavors, including traditional favorites like vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry, as well as more unique options such as butter pecan, mint chocolate chip, and rocky road. The company also offered sundaes, milkshakes, and ice cream cakes.
Acquisition and Decline[edit | edit source]
In the 1980s, Bresler's 33 Flavors was acquired by Dunkin' Brands, the parent company of Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin-Robbins. Following the acquisition, many Bresler's locations were converted into Baskin-Robbins stores. By the early 2000s, the Bresler's brand had largely disappeared from the market.
Legacy[edit | edit source]
Although Bresler's 33 Flavors is no longer in operation, it is remembered for its contribution to the ice cream industry and its role in popularizing the concept of offering a wide variety of flavors. The company's innovative approach influenced many other ice cream chains that followed.
