British Octopush Association

From WikiMD's Food, Medicine & Wellness Encyclopedia

British Octopush Association (BOA) is the governing body for the sport of Octopush in the United Kingdom. The association was established in 1975 with the aim of promoting and developing the sport of Octopush across the country.

History[edit | edit source]

The British Octopush Association was founded in 1975, following the introduction of Octopush to the UK in the early 1950s. The sport, which is a form of underwater hockey, was initially played in the swimming pools of London before spreading to other parts of the country. The BOA was established to provide a formal structure for the sport and to promote its growth and development.

Role and Responsibilities[edit | edit source]

The BOA is responsible for the regulation and promotion of Octopush in the UK. This includes setting the rules and regulations for the sport, organising national competitions and tournaments, and providing training and development opportunities for players and coaches. The association also represents the interests of Octopush players at a national and international level.

Structure[edit | edit source]

The BOA is governed by a board of directors, who are elected by the members of the association. The board is responsible for the strategic direction of the association and for making decisions on behalf of its members. The day-to-day operations of the BOA are managed by a team of staff and volunteers.

Membership[edit | edit source]

Membership of the BOA is open to anyone who is interested in Octopush. This includes players of all levels, from beginners to elite athletes, as well as coaches, referees, and supporters of the sport. Members of the BOA receive a range of benefits, including access to training and development opportunities, eligibility to compete in national competitions, and the chance to have a say in the future direction of the sport.
