Bronxville

Bronxville is a village located in Westchester County, New York, in the United States. It is part of the town of Eastchester and is considered one of the most affluent suburbs of New York City.

Bronxville was originally settled by European colonists in the early 17th century. The village was incorporated in 1898. It was named after the Bronck family, who were among the area's earliest European settlers.

Geography[edit | edit source]

Bronxville is located at 40°56′29″N 73°49′52″W. The village has a total area of 1.0 square mile (2.6 km2), all of it land. It is bordered by Yonkers to the west, Eastchester to the east, and Tuckahoe to the north.

Demographics[edit | edit source]

As of the 2010 census, there were 6,323 people, 2,312 households, and 1,660 families residing in the village. The population density was 6,323.0 inhabitants per square mile (2,439.8/km2).

Education[edit | edit source]

Bronxville is served by the Bronxville Union Free School District, which operates Bronxville Elementary School, Bronxville Middle School, and Bronxville High School. The village is also home to Concordia College, a four-year liberal arts college.

Notable people[edit | edit source]

Several notable people have lived in Bronxville, including Brendan Gill, a writer for The New Yorker, and Elizabeth B. Mock, an architect and curator for the Museum of Modern Art.
