Bundibugyo

Bundibugyo is a district located in the western region of Uganda. It is named after its main town, Bundibugyo, which serves as the district's administrative center. The district is known for its diverse ethnic groups, including the Bamba, Bakonjo, and Batuku. It is also home to the Semuliki National Park, which is rich in biodiversity.

Bundibugyo is bordered by Ntoroko District to the north, Kabarole District to the east, Democratic Republic of the Congo to the south and west. The district covers an area of approximately 2,442.36 square kilometers.

Demographics[edit | edit source]

As of the 2014 national census, the district had a population of approximately 250,000 people. The majority of the population belongs to the Bamba, Bakonjo, and Batuku ethnic groups.

Economy[edit | edit source]

The economy of Bundibugyo is primarily based on agriculture, with cocoa being the main cash crop. Other important crops include coffee, bananas, and beans. The district is also known for its fish farming and beekeeping activities.

The district has several health facilities, including Bundibugyo Hospital, which is a government-run district hospital. There are also several health centers and clinics that provide primary healthcare services to the local population.
