Bursa Malaysia[edit | edit source]

Bursa Malaysia is the stock exchange of Malaysia. It is based in Kuala Lumpur and was previously known as the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (KLSE). The exchange provides a platform for the trading of equities, derivatives, and other financial instruments.

History[edit | edit source]

Bursa Malaysia traces its origins back to 1930 when the Singapore Stockbrokers' Association was established as a formal organization dealing in securities in Malaysia and Singapore. In 1964, the Malaysian Stock Exchange was formed, and in 1973, it was split into the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange Berhad and the Stock Exchange of Singapore following the separation of Singapore from Malaysia.

In 2004, the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange was demutualized and renamed Bursa Malaysia. This transformation was part of a broader effort to enhance the competitiveness and efficiency of the exchange.

  • The LEAP Market, which is aimed at facilitating access to the capital market for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
