- Casual Contact Networks: These are general business groups that allow many people from various overlapping professions. These networking groups usually meet weekly and often hold mixers where everyone mingles informally.

- Professional Associations: Trade organizations, professional societies, and subject-matter organizations.
- Online Networking: With the advent of the Internet, business networking has become virtual, with networking sites like LinkedIn and Facebook.
