Busted
Busted is a British pop punk band originating from Southend-on-Sea, Essex, England. The band was formed in 2000 and originally consisted of James Bourne, Matt Willis, and Charlie Simpson. Busted achieved significant success in the early 2000s with their energetic style and catchy melodies.
History[edit | edit source]
Busted was formed in 2000 when James Bourne and Matt Willis met through mutual friends and decided to start a band. They later recruited Charlie Simpson to complete the lineup. The band quickly gained popularity with their debut single, "What I Go to School For," which was released in 2002 and reached number three on the UK Singles Chart.
Debut Album[edit | edit source]
Their self-titled debut album, Busted, was released in 2002 and included hit singles such as "Year 3000" and "You Said No." The album was a commercial success, reaching number two on the UK Albums Chart and earning a 3× Platinum certification from the British Phonographic Industry (BPI).
Second Album[edit | edit source]
In 2003, Busted released their second album, A Present for Everyone, which featured singles like "Crashed the Wedding" and "Who's David?." The album debuted at number two on the UK Albums Chart and was also certified 3× Platinum by the BPI.
Hiatus and Side Projects[edit | edit source]
In 2005, Charlie Simpson left the band to focus on his other project, Fightstar, leading to Busted's initial breakup. During the hiatus, James Bourne formed the band Son of Dork, and Matt Willis pursued a solo career.
Reunion[edit | edit source]
In 2015, Busted announced their reunion with all three original members. They embarked on a successful tour and released their third studio album, Night Driver, in 2016. The album marked a departure from their earlier pop punk sound, incorporating more electronic and synth-pop elements.
