Cadence Industries

Cadence Industries was an American conglomerate owned by Martin S. Ackerman, specializing in the fields of publishing, entertainment, and pharmaceuticals. The company was formed in 1968 and dissolved in 1986.

Cadence Industries was originally known as Perfect Film and Chemical Corporation. In 1968, the company changed its name to Cadence Industries Corporation. The company was involved in various industries, including entertainment, publishing, and pharmaceuticals.

Publishing[edit | edit source]

In the publishing sector, Cadence Industries was the parent company of Marvel Comics from 1968 to 1986. During this period, Marvel Comics became a major player in the comic book industry, introducing popular characters such as Spider-Man, the X-Men, and the Avengers.

Entertainment[edit | edit source]

In the entertainment sector, Cadence Industries owned Marvel Productions, a television and film production company. Marvel Productions produced several popular animated television shows based on Marvel Comics characters, including Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends and The Incredible Hulk.

Pharmaceuticals[edit | edit source]

In the pharmaceutical sector, Cadence Industries owned Curtis Circulation Company, a distributor of magazines and comic books. Curtis Circulation Company was also involved in the distribution of pharmaceuticals.

Dissolution[edit | edit source]

Cadence Industries was dissolved in 1986. Its assets were divided among various companies. The publishing and entertainment assets were sold to New World Entertainment, while the pharmaceutical assets were sold to Rite Aid.
