Cadence Industries Corporation was an American conglomerate company that operated from 1968 to 1986. It was originally known as Perfect Film & Chemical Corporation before changing its name in 1973. The company was involved in various industries, including publishing, film processing, and chemical manufacturing.

Cadence Industries began as Perfect Film & Chemical Corporation, which was founded in 1962. The company initially focused on film processing and chemical manufacturing. In 1968, Perfect Film acquired Magazine Management Company, which was the parent company of Marvel Comics. This acquisition marked the company's entry into the publishing industry.

In 1973, Perfect Film & Chemical Corporation changed its name to Cadence Industries Corporation. This rebranding reflected the company's diversification into various business sectors beyond its original focus.

Acquisitions and Expansion[edit | edit source]

During the 1970s, Cadence Industries expanded its portfolio through several acquisitions. The company acquired Curtis Circulation Company, a major magazine distributor, which helped strengthen its position in the publishing industry. Cadence also acquired several other companies in different sectors, including Brunswick Corporation's educational materials division.

Marvel Comics[edit | edit source]

One of Cadence Industries' most notable subsidiaries was Marvel Comics, which became a significant part of the company's operations. Under Cadence's ownership, Marvel experienced a period of growth and innovation, introducing new characters and expanding its influence in the comic book industry.

In the mid-1980s, Cadence Industries began to divest its assets. In 1986, the company was dissolved, and its remaining assets were sold off. Marvel Entertainment Group was sold to New World Pictures, marking the end of Cadence's involvement in the publishing industry.
