Calimero

Calimero is a charming animated character that first appeared in 1963 on the Italian television show Carosello. It was created by the animation studio Pagot and initially served as a mascot for the Ava soap brand. Calimero is depicted as a small, black chicken who is distinguishable from his peers by his half-shell egg that he wears on his head, a remainder of his eggshell. This character is known for his catchphrase, "It's an injustice, it is," which he often says to express his feelings of being treated unfairly due to his small size or color.

The character's popularity quickly grew, leading to the creation of a series of animated shorts that were broadcast in various countries, including Italy, Japan, and France. The original series, which aired in the 1960s, was in black and white, but Calimero made a transition to color in a newer series that was produced in the 1970s. Over the years, Calimero has starred in several television series, the most recent of which was produced in 2013, marking the 50th anniversary of the character's creation.

Calimero's stories often revolve around his adventures with his friends, which include Priscilla, a female chicken who is Calimero's love interest, and Pierrot, a pigeon who is one of Calimero's best friends. The themes of the series typically focus on issues of fairness, friendship, and the struggle against injustice, making it relatable to a young audience.

The character has had a significant impact on popular culture, especially in the countries where the series was broadcast. Calimero has become a cultural icon, symbolizing the underdog or those who feel underestimated by society. The character's influence extends beyond television, with Calimero appearing in various merchandise, including toys, books, and clothing.
