Campsis tagliabuana

From WikiMD's Food, Medicine & Wellness Encyclopedia

Campsis tagliabuana is a species of flowering plant in the family Bignoniaceae. It is a hybrid of two other species in the genus Campsis, namely Campsis radicans (American trumpet vine) and Campsis grandiflora (Chinese trumpet vine).

Description[edit | edit source]

Campsis tagliabuana is a deciduous, woody, climbing perennial plant. It can grow up to 10 meters high. The leaves are pinnate with 7-11 leaflets, each leaflet 3-10 cm long. The flowers are trumpet-shaped, 5-8 cm long, and bright orange in color. The fruit is a long, narrow capsule containing numerous winged seeds.

Distribution and Habitat[edit | edit source]

This plant is native to the United States and China, but it has been widely cultivated and naturalized in other parts of the world. It prefers full sun and well-drained soil. It is often found in woodlands, along riverbanks, and in urban areas where it is used as an ornamental plant.

Cultivation and Uses[edit | edit source]

Campsis tagliabuana is popular in horticulture because of its showy flowers and its ability to climb structures such as trellises and walls. It is also used in traditional medicine in some cultures. However, it can be invasive in some areas and care should be taken to control its spread.
