Carel Struycken
Carel Struycken (July 30, 1948) is a Dutch film, television, and stage actor. He is best known for his roles as the giant in the television series Twin Peaks, Lurch in the The Addams Family films, and Mr. Homn in Star Trek: The Next Generation. Struycken's imposing height of 7 feet (2.13 meters) is due to acromegaly, a condition resulting from excess growth hormone, which has contributed to his distinctive appearance on screen.

Carel Struycken was born in The Hague, Netherlands. From a young age, he exhibited an interest in film and photography, which would later influence his career path. Despite his eventual career in acting, Struycken initially pursued studies in directing at the Film School in Amsterdam. However, his life took a significant turn when he was discovered by a director in a department store in the Netherlands, leading to his first acting role.
