Caritas Internationalis
Caritas Internationalis is a confederation of 162 Catholic relief, development, and social service organizations operating in over 200 countries and territories worldwide. The organization’s headquarters is located in Vatican City. Caritas Internationalis is one of the largest humanitarian networks in the world, providing assistance to the poor, vulnerable, and marginalized regardless of race, religion, or political beliefs.

Caritas Internationalis was founded in 1951 to coordinate the efforts of various national Caritas organizations. The confederation was established to promote human development and social justice in accordance with the teachings of the Catholic Church. Over the years, Caritas Internationalis has grown to include 162 member organizations, each operating autonomously but united by a common mission.

The mission of Caritas Internationalis is to serve the poor and promote charity and justice throughout the world. The General Secretariat, based in Vatican City, coordinates the activities of the confederation and represents Caritas Internationalis at the international level. The organization is governed by a General Assembly, which meets every four years to set policies and elect the President and Secretary General.
