Carson Beckett
Carson Beckett is a fictional character from the science fiction television series Stargate Atlantis, a spin-off of the popular series Stargate SG-1. The character is portrayed by Scottish actor Paul McGillion.

Dr. Carson Beckett is the chief medical officer of the Atlantis expedition, a multinational team of scientists and military personnel exploring the Pegasus Galaxy. He is of Scottish descent and is known for his compassionate nature, strong ethical beliefs, and his distinctive Scottish accent.
Role in Stargate Atlantis[edit | edit source]
Carson Beckett is introduced in the pilot episode, "Rising". He is a geneticist and medical doctor who plays a crucial role in the discovery and utilization of the Ancient Technology Activation gene (ATA gene), which allows humans to interact with Ancient technology. Beckett's research on the ATA gene is pivotal to the success of the Atlantis expedition.
Throughout the series, Beckett is involved in numerous medical and scientific challenges, including the treatment of the Wraith, a vampiric alien species that feed on human life force. He also develops a retrovirus intended to turn Wraith into humans, which becomes a significant plot point in the series.
