Cedar County, Nebraska[edit | edit source]

Cedar County is a county located in the U.S. state of Nebraska. As of the 2010 United States Census, the population was 8,852. Its county seat is Hartington. The county was established in 1857 and named after the Cedar tree groves in the area.

Geography[edit | edit source]

Cedar County is located in the northeastern part of Nebraska, with a total area of 746 square miles, of which 740 square miles is land and 6.3 square miles is water. The county's highest point is the Missouri River's bluff, with the lowest point located where the Logan Creek flows into the Missouri River.

Demographics[edit | edit source]

As of the 2010 United States Census, there were 8,852 people, 3,567 households, and 2,492 families residing in the county. The racial makeup of the county was 98.6% White, 0.2% Black or African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.3% Asian, 0.5% from other races, and 0.2% from two or more races. 1.2% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
