Chinese people are the various individuals or ethnic groups associated with China, usually through ancestry, ethnicity, nationality, citizenship, or other affiliation. The Han Chinese are the largest ethnic group in China, comprising approximately 92% of its mainland population.

The history of the Chinese people is a long and complex one, dating back thousands of years to the earliest known evidence of human existence in China. The Chinese civilization is one of the world's oldest, with the written history dating back to the Shang Dynasty, over 3,000 years ago.

Chinese culture is one of the world's oldest cultures, tracing back to thousands of years ago. The area over which the culture prevails covers a large geographical region in East Asia and is extremely diverse and varying, with customs and traditions varying greatly between provinces, cities, and even towns.

The Chinese language is a group of languages that form part of the Sino-Tibetan language family. Chinese languages are spoken by the ethnic Chinese majority and many minority ethnic groups in China. The official language of China is Mandarin Chinese, which is one of the six official languages of the United Nations.

Religion[edit | edit source]

Religion in China has been characterized by a diversity of religious beliefs and practices. It is predominantly influenced by Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism. However, with the advent of the modern age, other religions such as Christianity and Islam have also gained a foothold in the country.

Chinese Diaspora[edit | edit source]

The Chinese diaspora is the migration of Chinese people from China to other parts of the world. This has resulted in significant Chinese communities in many countries, contributing to the multicultural fabric of these societies.
