Chris Cooper is an American actor. He is known for his performances in both film and television, and has received several awards, including an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

Early life[edit | edit source]

Chris Cooper was born on July 9, 1951, in Kansas City, Missouri. He grew up in the suburb of Leawood, Kansas, and attended the University of Missouri where he studied drama.

Career[edit | edit source]

Cooper's first film role was in the 1987 movie Matewan. He has since appeared in a variety of films, including American Beauty, October Sky, and Adaptation, for which he won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

In addition to his film work, Cooper has also appeared in several television shows, including Lonesome Dove and 11.22.63.

Personal life[edit | edit source]

Cooper is married to Marianne Leone Cooper, an actress and writer. They have one son, Jesse, who has cerebral palsy.

Over the course of his career, Cooper has received numerous awards and nominations. In addition to his Academy Award, he has also won a Golden Globe Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award.
