History[edit | edit source]

The first location of Chuck E. Cheese was opened in San Jose, California on May 17, 1977, by Nolan Bushnell, who is also the founder of Atari, Inc.. The concept for Chuck E. Cheese was created from Bushnell's belief that there were not enough places where young people could learn about technology and its benefits. The restaurant and entertainment center was designed to provide a fun, safe, and friendly environment where children and their families could enjoy pizza, games, and animated entertainment.

Concept and format[edit | edit source]

Chuck E. Cheese locations feature a sit-down pizza restaurant, complemented by arcade games, small rides, and animatronic stage shows. The main character, Chuck E. Cheese, is a grey anthropomorphic mouse with a red derby hat, a red turtleneck with a yellow "C" on it, purple slacks, and red shoes. The character is voiced by Duncan Brannan and Jeremy Blaido.
