The Chugach Census Area is a part of the U.S. state of Alaska. It is located in the southern part of the state, bordering the Gulf of Alaska. The area is named after the Chugach people, who were the area's original inhabitants. The Chugach Census Area is part of the larger Valdez-Cordova Census Area.

The Chugach Census Area covers a total area of 13,431 square miles. It is largely mountainous, with the Chugach Mountains running through the area. The area also includes several islands in the Gulf of Alaska.
