Clarence Acuña

Clarence Andrés Acuña Herrera (born 8 February 1975) is a retired Chilean football player who played as a midfielder. Known for his tenacity and versatility on the field, Acuña had a significant career both in Chile and internationally.
Club career[edit | edit source]
Acuña began his professional career with O'Higgins in Rancagua, the city where he was born. His performances in the Chilean league caught the attention of larger clubs, and he soon moved to Universidad de Chile, one of the country's most prestigious teams. During his time at Universidad de Chile, Acuña helped the team win multiple national titles, establishing himself as a key player.
In 2000, Acuña moved to Europe to join Newcastle United in the English Premier League. His time in England was marked by solid performances in the midfield, although he was occasionally hampered by injuries. After several seasons with Newcastle, Acuña moved on to play for Rosario Central in Argentina and later returned to Chile to finish his career with several clubs, including Universidad de Concepción and Unión Española.
