Clark County is a county located in the U.S. state of Kansas. As of the 2020 census, the county population was 1,998. The largest city and county seat is Ashland. The county was founded in 1885 and named after Charles F. Clarke, a Kansas state senator.

Geography[edit | edit source]

Clark County is located in the southwestern part of Kansas, with its county seat, Ashland, situated near the center. The county covers a total area of 977 square miles, of which 975 square miles is land and 1.9 square miles is water.

As of the 2020 census, there were 1,998 people, 836 households, and 578 families residing in the county. The population density was 2.05 people per square mile. The racial makeup of the county was 96.7% White, 0.2% Black or African American, 0.6% Native American, 0.5% Asian, 0.9% from other races, and 1.1% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.4% of the population.
