Clear Creek County, Colorado

Clear Creek County is a county located in the U.S. state of Colorado. As of the 2010 census, the population was 9,088. The county seat is Georgetown. Clear Creek County is part of the Denver-Aurora-Lakewood, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Clear Creek County spans 396 square miles, with 4 square miles of it being water. The county is located in the Rocky Mountains, west of the continental divide. It is named after Clear Creek, which runs down from the continental divide through the county.

Clear Creek County was one of the original 17 counties created by the Colorado legislature on November 1, 1861. It was named after Clear Creek, which was a significant landmark for gold prospectors in the area during the late 19th century.
