Clive Coates
Clive Coates (21 October 1941 – 26 July 2022) was a British wine writer and Master of Wine. He was widely regarded as one of the world's leading authorities on Burgundy wine and authored several influential books on the subject.
Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]
Clive Coates was born in England. He developed an interest in wine at an early age and pursued his passion through extensive study and travel. Coates became a Master of Wine in 1971, a prestigious title awarded by the Institute of Masters of Wine.
Career[edit | edit source]
Coates began his career in the wine trade, working for various wine merchants before establishing his own wine importing business. He later transitioned to writing, where he gained recognition for his deep knowledge and insightful commentary on wine.
