Coarsegold is a small town located in Madera County, California, in the United States. It is part of the Madera–Chowchilla metropolitan statistical area. The town is nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, at an elevation of 2,221 feet (677 m). The town's name comes from the discovery of gold nuggets in the area during the California Gold Rush.

Coarsegold was originally inhabited by the Chukchansi tribe of Native Americans. The town's history is deeply intertwined with the California Gold Rush, as gold was discovered in the area in the mid-19th century. This led to a boom in population and economic activity, although the town has since returned to a quieter pace of life.
