Coca-Cola BlāK

From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia

Coca-Cola BlāK was a coffee-flavored soft drink introduced by The Coca-Cola Company in 2006. The beverage was a fusion of Coca-Cola, natural flavors, and coffee essence, and was part of the company's efforts to expand its portfolio and reach out to mature consumers with sophisticated tastes.

History[edit | edit source]

Coca-Cola BlāK was first launched in France in January 2006, before being introduced in the United States in April of the same year. The product was developed as part of Coca-Cola's strategy to drive growth through the introduction of new beverages that cater to evolving consumer tastes.

Despite initial excitement, Coca-Cola BlāK did not meet sales expectations. The product was discontinued in the United States in 2008 and globally in 2009. The company cited low consumer demand as the primary reason for the product's discontinuation.

Product Description[edit | edit source]

Coca-Cola BlāK was a carbonated beverage that combined the traditional taste of Coca-Cola with coffee essence. The drink was marketed as a sophisticated and adult-oriented beverage. It was packaged in a sleek, black 8-ounce glass bottle, and was also available in cans.

The beverage contained approximately half the caffeine of an equivalent size cup of coffee and over twice the caffeine of a regular Coca-Cola. It was sweetened with high fructose corn syrup in the United States, and with sugar in other markets.

Reception[edit | edit source]

The reception to Coca-Cola BlāK was mixed. Some consumers appreciated the unique flavor combination, while others found the taste to be unappealing. The product's higher price point, compared to regular Coca-Cola, was also a point of contention among consumers.

Legacy[edit | edit source]

Despite the discontinuation of Coca-Cola BlāK, The Coca-Cola Company continues to experiment with coffee-flavored beverages. In 2020, the company announced the launch of Coca-Cola with Coffee, a new product that once again combines the flavors of Coca-Cola and coffee.
