Colfax County is a county in the U.S. state of Nebraska. As of the 2020 census, the population was 10,709. Its county seat is Schuyler. The county was established in 1869 and named after Schuyler Colfax, the Vice President at the time.

Geography[edit | edit source]

Colfax County covers an area of 417 square miles, with land making up 412 square miles and the remaining 5 square miles being water. The Platte River runs through the county, providing a vital water source for the local agriculture industry.

As of the 2020 census, there were 10,709 people residing in the county. The racial makeup of the county was 79.8% White, 0.3% Black or African American, 0.5% Native American, 0.4% Asian, 17.6% from other races, and 1.4% from two or more races. 34.8% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
