Grupo Nutresa was founded in 1920 as Compañía Nacional de Chocolates by a group of Colombian entrepreneurs. Initially, the company focused on producing and selling chocolate products. Over the years, it expanded its product portfolio through acquisitions and diversification strategies.
In 1967, the company changed its name to Grupo Nacional de Chocolates to reflect its growing presence in the food industry. In the following decades, Grupo Nutresa continued to expand its operations by acquiring various food companies in Colombia and other countries.

Grupo Nutresa operates through a decentralized business model, with more than 80 companies under its umbrella. These companies are organized into six strategic business units: Food, Chocolates, Biscuits, Tresmontes Lucchetti, Cold Cuts, and Ice Cream.
The Food business unit includes brands such as Zenú, Supremo, and Campi. The Chocolates unit is responsible for popular brands like Corona, Jet, and Chocolisto. The Biscuits unit includes brands like Noel, Dux, and Festival. Tresmontes Lucchetti is a leading pasta and noodles brand in Latin America. The Cold Cuts unit includes brands like Zenu and Pietrán, while the Ice Cream unit includes brands like Savory and La Granja.
