Core competency
Core competency is a concept in management theory introduced by C.K. Prahalad and Gary Hamel. It refers to a harmonized combination of multiple resources and skills that distinguish a firm in the marketplace. Core competencies are the main strengths or strategic advantages of a business, including the combination of pooled knowledge and technical capacities that allow a business to be competitive in the marketplace.
