Cotton County is a county located in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. As of the 2010 census, the population was 6,193. Its county seat is Walters. The county was created in 1912 and named for Robert L. Cotton, a state senator.

Geography[edit | edit source]

Cotton County is located in the southwestern part of Oklahoma. The county's total area is 641 square miles, of which 633 square miles is land and 7.9 square miles is water. The county is primarily rural, with agriculture being the main industry.

As of the 2010 census, there were 6,193 people, 2,485 households, and 1,763 families residing in the county. The population density was 9.8 people per square mile. The racial makeup of the county was 86.2% White, 2.1% Black or African American, 6.0% Native American, 0.3% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 1.7% from other races, and 3.6% from two or more races. 4.7% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
