Cuyahoga County is located in the northeastern part of the U.S. state of Ohio. As of the 2020 census, the population was 1,264,154, making it the most populous county in Ohio. Its county seat is Cleveland. The county is named after the Iroquoian word Cuyahoga, which means 'crooked river'. The name is also assigned to the Cuyahoga River, which bisects the county.
