Danbury is a city located in Fairfield County, Connecticut, United States. It is the seventh most populous city in the state of Connecticut, with a population of approximately 80,000 as of the 2010 census. The city is known for its rich history, diverse culture, and economic vitality.

The area now known as Danbury was originally inhabited by the Algonquin people, who were later displaced by European settlers in the 17th century. The city was incorporated in 1687 and has since grown into a bustling urban center.

In the 19th century, Danbury became known as the "Hat City" due to its prominent hat manufacturing industry. The Danbury Hat Company was one of the largest hat manufacturers in the world, producing more than five million hats per year at its peak.
