David Provan was born on 8 May 1956 in Gourock, Scotland. He grew up in a football-loving family and showed an early interest in the sport. Provan attended St. Columba's High School in Gourock, where he began to develop his skills as a footballer.

Kilmarnock[edit | edit source]

Provan began his professional career with Kilmarnock F.C. in 1974. During his time at Kilmarnock, he established himself as a promising young winger, known for his pace and crossing ability. He made over 100 appearances for the club, scoring several important goals.

Celtic[edit | edit source]

In 1978, Provan transferred to Celtic F.C., one of Scotland's most prestigious clubs. At Celtic, he became a key player and enjoyed significant success. Provan was part of the team that won the Scottish Premier Division title in 1979, 1981, and 1982. He also helped Celtic secure the Scottish Cup in 1980.
