David Zabriskie
David Zabriskie (born January 12, 1979) is a retired professional road cyclist from the United States. Zabriskie's career spanned over a decade, during which he competed in the highest echelons of international cycling. He is best known for his time-trialing abilities, having won the United States National Time Trial Championships multiple times. Zabriskie also achieved the rare feat of wearing the leader's jersey in all three Grand Tours: the Tour de France, the Giro d'Italia, and the Vuelta a España.

David Zabriskie was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, and began his cycling career at a young age. He quickly rose through the ranks of amateur cycling, showcasing a particular talent for time-trialing. Zabriskie turned professional in 1999, joining the US Postal Service team, where he rode in support of Lance Armstrong.
Professional Career[edit | edit source]
Throughout his professional career, Zabriskie rode for several top-tier teams, including Team CSC and Garmin-Sharp. His prowess in individual time trials earned him numerous victories, including stages at the Tour de France and the Giro d'Italia. In 2005, Zabriskie won the stage 1 individual time trial of the Tour de France, becoming the third American to wear the yellow jersey.
Zabriskie's career was not without controversy. In 2012, as part of the USADA's investigation into doping in cycling, Zabriskie admitted to using performance-enhancing drugs during his tenure with the US Postal Service team. Following his admission, he was suspended from professional cycling and subsequently retired.

After retiring from professional cycling, Zabriskie has remained involved in the sport through various endeavors, including coaching and advocating for clean sport. He has also ventured into business, founding a company that produces vegan and vegetarian food products aimed at athletes.
