DigitalOcean is an American cloud infrastructure provider headquartered in New York City with data centers worldwide. DigitalOcean provides developers with cloud services that help to deploy and scale applications that run simultaneously on multiple computers.

DigitalOcean was founded by Ben Uretsky, Moisey Uretsky, Jeff Carr, Alec Hartman, and Mitch Wainer in 2011. The company was initially started as a cloud server provider for developers. DigitalOcean launched its first server in 2011 and has grown rapidly since, becoming one of the largest hosting companies in the world.
Services[edit | edit source]
DigitalOcean's infrastructure is built on top of Linux distributions. It provides a cloud platform for developers to deploy, manage, and scale applications. The platform includes a range of services such as Droplets, Kubernetes, Managed Databases, Spaces, and Load Balancers.
Droplets[edit | edit source]
Droplets are scalable compute platforms with add-on storage, security, and monitoring capabilities. They can be customized and resized according to the user's needs.
Kubernetes[edit | edit source]
DigitalOcean offers a managed Kubernetes service that allows developers to deploy, manage, and scale containerized applications using Kubernetes.
Managed Databases[edit | edit source]
DigitalOcean's Managed Databases are fully managed, high performance database clusters. They provide developers with an easy way to set up, secure, and scale databases.
Spaces[edit | edit source]
Spaces is an object storage service that makes it easy and cost effective to store and serve large amounts of data.
Load Balancers[edit | edit source]
DigitalOcean's Load Balancers are a fully-managed, highly available network load balancing service. They help to distribute incoming traffic to increase your application's availability.
